In 2014 I started a research project about the Italian cellist Alfredo Piatti (1822-1901), who had a very long and fruitful career as a soloist, chamber musician, composer and teacher. The main goals of this project are to learn as much as possible about Piatti’s style of performing, to use this knowledge in my own performing career and to make it accessible to others. With this blog I want to share some of my findings already during the research process, in the hope that it will contribute to the discussion about historically informed performance and about practice based artistic research. And of course I hope to receive feedback from my visitors!
